He always was too beautiful for this world. Our son, Bobby, is also beautiful, skilled and very clever. He also looks like his dad 🙂 Gar often spoke about you guys. I really do hope, he’s found his elusive peace.
Thanks for the special notice about my brother Garry. He was always very proud of his time with Crawling Chaos. Anyone who wants to come to Whitley Bay Crematorium on Friday is very welcome. The time has been amended slightly from 12:00 noon to 12:30 on Friday 18th December. – Rob Clennell
My name is Richard Todd. I knew Garry for a few years in the 90’s before I moved away. My band recorded with him. Only this week i started searching for him to try and get back in touch. Garry was a lovely, lovely man. It’s a great loss. My condolences to all his family and friends.
My condolences to family and friends. I knew Garry off and on for about 30 years, sadly we didn’t part on the best of terms. It shocked me to hear he was gone though. Garry was one of those guys you fell out with and then made up the next time you bumped into him. Still one of the best drummers I ever met.
I was a pupil of Garry’s at Newcastle college circa 1997. I found his enthusiasm, passion and vibrancy about music very inspiring but above all, his tendency to instill motivation through his kind and down to earth manner very refreshing, unorthodox and memorable. He was full of surprises. I allway’s looked forward to seeing him and do still think of him.

I decided this evening to search the internet to see if I could find anything about Garry Clennel. I first met him in 1992/3 when he was teaching a group of us (then) youngsters how to make music. I forged a good friendship with him, and met him on and off over several years after that up until about 1998. He taught me so much about music theory, recording, production, playing techniques and many other things. He recorded my first ever track in Wallsend, and I held a great deal of respect and love for him. I am truly shocked and saddened to hear that he has passed away. I hope that he has found the peace that he so wanted, and I do miss him.
May you live in peace wherever you are good fellow.
